PayPal Now Works in Nigeria: How Nigerians Can Receive Money & Withdraw Easily (2026 Guide)

After 20yrs of restricting Nigerians from using PayPal to receive payment, on January 27th 2025 PayPal has finally call of the restriction by partnering with a fintech platform here in Nigeria called paga. With Paga you can now link your PayPal to it to receive your PayPal payment.
This new partnership makes it possible for Nigerians to connect their PayPal accounts to their Paga digital wallets, allowing them to receive payments from any country where PayPal is supported. Once the money comes in, users can access their earnings in Naira, make purchases from international PayPal merchants, pay bills, transfer funds to local bank accounts, or spend directly using Paga’s Visa card. This integration effectively links global income opportunities with everyday financial activities in Nigeria.
Paga has announced the launch of this new integration for users across Nigeria, describing it as a major step toward making global payments more accessible locally. According to Tayo Oviosu, Founder and Group CEO of Paga, the partnership is designed to support freelancers receiving international payments, online businesses selling to global customers, and everyday consumers who shop across borders. He noted that the collaboration simplifies how Nigerians can access and use foreign earnings in a secure way that fits the local market.
Otto Williams, Senior Vice President, Regional Head and General Manager for PayPal Middle East and Africa, explained that PayPal’s approach has been to work closely with trusted local innovators like Paga. He stated that the partnership reflects PayPal’s commitment to helping Nigerians earn, spend, and grow financially, while also strengthening the payments ecosystem through increased financial inclusion and support for local innovation. This, he added, allows more individuals and businesses to confidently take part in the digital economy.
Nigeria’s digital payments sector continues to expand rapidly. Transaction values reached ₦657.8 trillion in 2023, with more than 30 million active mobile wallet users, according to a 2024 report by Novatia Consulting. With over 21 million users and a strong API-driven infrastructure, Paga is well positioned to roll out PayPal’s services nationwide, leveraging its established local settlement network and digital wallet
To start using PayPal through Paga, users simply need to sign in to the Paga app or website, connect their PayPal account, and begin receiving international payments directly into their Paga wallet. Once received, funds can be used for local bank transfers, bill payments, online purchases, or cash withdrawals
